At No Shade, Brighter Spaces, I am committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data with the same care and respect I bring to your home. This policy explains what information I collect, why I need it, and how I keep it safe.

1. Who I am

I am Katie, the owner of No Shade, Brighter Spaces. For the purposes of UK Data Protection law, I am the "Data Controller."

2. Information I collect

I only collect information that is necessary to provide my services and manage our business relationship:

  • Contact details: Your name, email address, and phone number.

  • Service details: Your home address (for in-person sessions) and any information you provide about your space and goals.

  • Session data: For strategy sessions, call recordings and transcripts processed through Gemini AI for transcription purposes only.

  • Usage data: Information about how you use my website, collected via cookies (e.g., your IP address and browser type).

3. How I use your information

I use your data to:

  • Respond to your enquiries and schedule sessions.

  • Provide professional decluttering and organising services.

  • Process payments and issue invoices.

  • Comply with legal and tax obligations.

  • (Only with your consent) Send you occasional newsletters or updates.

4. My "no photos" policy

As part of the No Shade, Brighter Spaces commitment to your privacy and focused support, I do not take "before and after" photos of your home for my own marketing or social media purposes. Your home remains a private sanctuary.

While I will not document the session for my business use, you are more than welcome to take your own photos to track your progress. If you choose to share your own photos or journey on social media and wish to tag No Shade, you are welcome to do so. I simply ask that you check with me before including my image in any posts.

5. Legal basis for processing

Under the UK GDPR, I process your data based on:

  • Contractual necessity: I need your info to fulfil the service you've booked.

  • Legal obligation: To keep financial records for HMRC.

  • Consent: When you opt-in to my mailing list.

  • Legitimate interest: To manage my business and respond to general enquiries.

6. Who I share data with

I never sell your personal data. I only share information with trusted third-party service providers required to run my business, such as:

  • Website host: Wix

  • Payment processor: Stripe

  • Email provider: Google Workspace

  • AI transcription service: Gemini AI for strategy session transcription (recordings deleted within 24 hours, transcripts deleted after 12 months)

  • Accountancy services: For tax and bookkeeping purposes.

7. Data retention

I keep your personal data for as long as necessary to provide my services and for at least 6 years to satisfy UK tax and insurance requirements. If you make an enquiry but do not book a service, I will delete your data after 12 months.

8. Your rights
